Oncidiums can be grown under shade-cloth 50% in winter 70% in summer. They can be grown in either a pot or on a slab of cork or treefern. They do like the light and it advised that the plants be hung high in the shade house.
In the hot weather they may need watering or spraying twice a day to ensure that the pot or slab does not dry out. In the cooler weather watering can be reduced When in bud do not water overhead as water in the bud will turn it yellow and die.
½ strength all-purpose fertilizer once a week is usually sufficient for growth and flowering DO NOT FEED A DRY PLANT.
THE MIX SHOULD BE OPEN AND FREE DRAINING small bark isolite and marble chips are mainly used.
